These sweet pancakes are awesome for a fun breakfast with your kids, birthdays, slumber parties, special occasions, family gatherings, holidays, or anytime you want to make a sweet treat for breakfast. Serve with the classic butter and syrup or cream cheese frosting!
How are cake mix pancakes different than regular pancakes?
- They’re much sweeter, making them a really big hit with kids! They’re certainly not something I’d make everyday, but as a special breakfast for birthdays and other occasions, they are a fun and exciting way to start the day. Include some whipped cream and a candle for the finishing touch!
- Cake mix comes in a variety of unique flavors that can suite just about any occasion. Try Carrot Cake for Easter, Lemon Cake for a hot summer morning, Funfetti to celebrate a birthday, Red Velvet for Valentine’s Day, Spice Cake for a cold fall day, Gingerbread for Christmas, or chocolate for an indulgent brunch on the weekend.
Ingredients Needed
- Any flavor of boxed cake mix
- two eggs
- 1¼ cup whole milk
- frosting, whipped cream, butter, or syrup for serving
The cake mix options all seem to be a bit different when mixed with milk. Some of them have chunks of pudding or added sprinkles. Start with ONE CUP of MILK and then add more as needed. About 1¼ cup seems to give you a good pancake batter consistency for most of them.
Once you have your batter mixed, simply make them on a greased griddle like any other pancakes. I recommend making them on the small side so that they are easier to flip. You’ll also want to keep the griddle on a medium-low setting to prevent the sugar in the pancake batter from burning.
Serve these delicious pancakes with butter and maple syrup, cream cheese frosting, chocolate frosting, or whipped cream! Want to make them extra awesome? Top with sprinkles, berries, nuts, sliced bananas, poppy seeds, raisins, chocolate chips, or anything else that pairs well with the flavor of cake mix you’ve chosen.
How To Make Pancakes with CAKE MIX!
Ingredients
- 1 (13.5oz) box cake mix (any flavor)
- 1+ cups milk
- 2 eggs
- frosting, butter, syrup, or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle or large pan to medium-low heat.
- In a large bowl, combine the dry cake mix, eggs, and milk. Start with ONE CUP of milk and add more as needed. All of the boxed cake mixes are slightly different, but I've discovered that about 1¼ cups of milk creates the perfect pancake batter consistency for most.
- Grease your griddle with butter or oil and then place about ¼ cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake, cooking for about 2 minutes on each side.
- Serve with butter, frosting, whipped cream, or maple syrup!
Notes
- If you're making these cake mix pancakes for a special birthday, consider a few sprinkles and candles for decorating.
- Because these pancakes have more sugar than regular pancake batter, they tend to burn a little easier which is why you want to cook them on a lower setting. Also, the smaller your pancakes, the quicker they'll cook all the way through.
