Cheesy, savory comfort food with a touch of sweetness. Doesn’t that sound amazing!? This Sloppy Joe French Bread Pizza is perfect served for just about any occasion, plus it’s fun and easy to make with budget ingredients. We make it often for a quick dinner along with a side of salad, but it’s also the perfect snack for family gatherings and small parties.
Ingredients
- 1 large loaf French bread
- ½ yellow onion (optional)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (15oz) can sloppy joe sauce
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Step 1
Dice the onions and cook with a little bit of butter or oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, or until soft and starting to brown.
Step 2
Add the ground beef to the pan and crumble until no longer pink. Remove any excess grease and then dump the can of sloppy joe sauce into the pan and mix well with the beef.
Step 3
Cut the loaf of French bread in half lengthwise and place onto a large, lined baking sheet. Evenly spread the ground beef mixture over top .
Step 4
Top with a generous amount of shredded cheese. I use about 3 cups but feel free to measure with your heart. You can use cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, or a combination of cheeses.
Step 5
Bake in the center rack of a 350° F oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and edges of the French bread are nice and toasty.
Easy peasy! Seriously, if you’re getting bored with the usual recipes you make at home, you’ve got to try this unique way of making Sloppy Joes. I love how it makes for small servings, and the bread gets extra toasty so you get a combination of flavors and textures in each bite.
