Easy Cheesecake Swirled Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 family size box brownie mix (plus the ingredients needed on the box to prepare them)
  • 1 (8oz) package cream cheese (softened)
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F and grease or line a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the store-bought box of brownie mix according to the package instructions which usually includes oil and eggs, and then pour the batter into your prepared dish.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and then beat in the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  • Evenly dollop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture all over the brownie batter and then use a butterknife, fork, or small spatula to swirl it around to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake, uncovered, in the center rack of your oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

  • If you cover your pan with parchment paper before dumping the batter in, it makes it effortless to pop the brownies out and cut into individual servings without making a mess.
  • Any 18-20 ounce box of brownie mix can be used for this recipe. 
  • It's important that your cream cheese is very soft, otherwise it's difficult to evenly swirl it around the brownie batter. 
  • If you're a peanut butter lover, try mixing in about ¼ cup of peanut butter into your cream cheese mixture. Yum!
